Michael Lebowitz

Deeply immersed in diamond, jewelry, and watch veteran of 52 years with equal knowledge in the Antique and Object of the Art arena.

Michael’s knowledge has often been tapped for consultancy projects for DeBeers, International Institute of Diamond Valuation, as “Senior Buyer”, Fortuna Auctions to further develop their Vintage & Collectible Watch Auctions, or Fabrikant Diamonds in developing a Couture Jewelry Collection, to name a few.

 Banks and Lending Institutions often call upon Michael’s real-time knowledge of the Diamond and Jewelry market to perform “ Asset Based Loan” appraisals.  ABL appraisals ascertain proper values of Diamond and Jewelry inventories to lend against

An active member of the NY City Jewelry trade since 1993. 
George has served in a wide range of positions with some of the industry’s leading firms. 
Beginning as a Staff Gemologist with the GIA Gem Trade Lab, George learned how to grade loose diamonds to the highest industry standards.  GIA Diamond Reports are recognized worldwide as the benchmark for establishing a diamond’s quality characteristics. 
He spent 10 years with Tiffany & Co., serving as Head of Vendor Quality Management. 
He traveled worldwide to visit jewelry manufacturing facilities and audit their quality assurance systems. 
 
He served as the Head of Quality Assurance with Harry Winston. He was responsible for writing and revising their jewelry quality standards and managing their quality inspection team. 
George also served as a Senior Jewelry Specialist with Fortuna Auction. 
During his career, George has testified as an expert witness in the US District Court Southern District of NY – Manhattan. 
He also has experience owning and operating private businesses for more than 10 years as a retail jewelry store owner in San Diego, and as a NJ – based Estate Jewelry store owner specializing in rare coins. 
 
Currently, George has a Manhattan-based business where he buys, sells, and appraises Estate Jewelry.
 
His understanding of the jewelry industry has been developed through experience, education, and having opportunities to work with the leading firms and implementing their best practices. 
 
George offers his experience and knowledge of fine jewelry, watches, gemstones, diamonds to each client.
